Dr. Shameka R. Pointer Campbell was born and raised in Town Creek, Alabama. A devoted mother to her son Amari, Dr. Pointer has built an extraordinary life rooted in faith, service, and compassion. She is a pastor, business owner, author, and counselor whose work has touched countless lives.
Dr. Pointer Campbell is a proud graduate of Higher Place Christian University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, and Doctorate in Christian Counseling and Psychology. Her academic journey reflects her deep commitment to combining biblical wisdom with psychological insight to help others find healing and wholeness.
As the Pastor of Open Heart International of Atlanta, Dr. Pointer leads a thriving congregation with a heart for discipleship and spiritual transformation. Her pastoral ministry demonstrates her commitment to shepherding people through their faith journeys and helping them discover their God-given calling.
In 2022, Dr. Shameka R. Pointer Campbell founded Open Heart Christian University, fulfilling her long-held vision to establish a Bible-based institution dedicated to training and equipping Christian leaders and disciples. In 2018, driven by her passion for mental health and psychology, Dr. Pointer founded Open Heart Counseling Services, Inc. This practice is dedicated to providing affordable, accessible mental health services so individuals can get the help they need without financial burden. Her mission is to break down barriers to mental health care in her community.
Beyond her practice, Dr. Pointer is an advocate for healthy mental health in the community. She regularly hosts Mental Health Conferences and awareness events, working tirelessly to destigmatize mental illness and encourage people to seek help and healing.
Dr. Pointer is also a playwright, expanding her creative voice beyond books. Her stage play "Exposed" will bring her powerful messages of truth, healing, and transformation to live audiences in the near future.
